简介：
Shengqiang Cai is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of California, San Diego. Shengqiang got his Ph.D.degree from Harvard University at 2011. After graduating from Harvard, he spent one year as postdoc associate at MIT.

In the presentation, Shengqiang will talk about his recent research on the large deformation and mechanical instability in soft active materials, such as, pH-sensitive hydrogels and dielectric elastomers. Shengqiang is also going to discuss the possibilities of using soft materials to make soft machines as well as some corresponding fabrication techniques.

After the seminar, Shengqiang Cai will be happy to talk to the students who want to pursue their Ph.D study in United States, especially in his own group.
